Joseph Amara, Geo-Information Management Consultant
Joseph Amara is a geologist and environmental consultant with working knowledge in Environmental and Natural Resources Management, encompassing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA); Waste Management; Geology and Mining; Research; and Geographic Information System (GIS) utilizing ArcGIS Desktop and QGIS.
He is proficient in various Geo-Science software such as Surfer, Geosoft Oasis Montaj, and Rockwork. Joseph possesses extensive technical skills in environmental monitoring and assessment, including surface and groundwater quality monitoring and sampling, air quality and noise monitoring, solid and hazardous waste management, soil sampling, data analysis and interpretation, baseline studies, impact assessment, and reporting. Joseph's interest in research and its role in driving sustainable development dates back to his university days. He co-authored the research paper "Seasonal assessment of heavy metal contamination of groundwater in two major dumpsites in Sierra Leone" during his final year.
As a Consultant at INTEGEMS, Joseph has led and provided technical support for the Routine Environmental Monitoring and Assessment of surface and groundwater quantity and quality, air quality, noise, and soil quality for various projects, including the Komahun Gold Project and the Port Loko Bauxite Project.
Joseph graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geology, achieving the highest overall academic performance for the entire Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, class of 2022. He also has certificates from Esri in ArcGIS Pro Basics and Getting Started with Spatial Analysis and Data Management.
Additionally, he completed an online certificate course on "Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gold Ore" from the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia
